Who's Really in Charge?
- 4-27-2011

Send in the clowns! In case you haven’t noticed – we are not in charge, we are embroiled in an oligarchy. Oligarchy – from the Greek, a form of government in which power effectively rests with a small segment of society distinguished by royalty, wealth, family ties, military control, or religious hegemony. Such states are often controlled by politically powerful families whose children are heavily conditioned and mentored to be heirs of the power of the reigning oligarchy.
Oligarchies have been tyrannical throughout history, being completely reliant on public servitude in order to exist. Although Aristotle pioneered the use of the term as a synonym for rule by the rich (for which the proper term is plutocracy), oligarchy is not always a rule by wealth, as oligarchs can simply be a privileged group, and do not have to be connected by bloodlines as in a monarchy.
The “Democracy” we so fondly refer to as being our form of government is only theater. A facade acted out publicly to keep the masses entertained with the thought that their voice is actually heard and their vote counts for something.
It may have begun with President Jackson, clearly it was institutionalized under FDR when he took the nation off the gold standard, set up the unlimited expansion of the government bureaucracy. Earlier Wilson created the FED which set up the financial arm for FDR.
How do we unwind this? Can we unwind it? Elections are a sham. But, if no one votes, what happens then? If we ignore them will they go away? I don’t think so. So it is time for us to get insular. To act selfishly, not in the hedonistic manner of the last quarter century, but selfishly in the sense of preparing your family and yourself first. Surviving the likely scenario so many economists and analysts now see coming will be a solitary pursuit. Uncle Sugar will not be able to come to the rescue. You and your family must come first.
Preserve wealth by buying gold and gold equivalents. The oligarchy can inflate the currency, but we don’t get hurt if we’re not holding dollars.
Remember our analogy in another blog about Robinson Crusoe’s island, with coconuts and fish? Now add a banker.
If the banker inflates the currency, how do our islanders protect themselves? The price of goods and services must go up by the amount of inflation. If money is being inflated, then the islanders must avoid holding money. They could go back to barter, of course.
How does this relate to the island called America? We must escape fiat currencies. Buy things that will hold their value. Hard assets. Real Estate. Gold. Commodities.
But what is the average person supposed to do? Put up a year’s supply of food? Pay off any debt? How about buying gold? Or at least silver?.
Advice: Get small. Get light. Remember the 7 points of success. Develop streams of income.
